Every now and then, we get presented withpuns that sound great in English, but just don’t translate – if you take a narrow-minded, literal approach. But where there’s a will, there’s a way. So when we received a set of banners from the world leader in website security, there was a little bit of head scratching at first. Puns around coffee and daily grind, spreadsheets cells and prison cells, complete with visuals to support the message that would need to be incorporated in the translation. So we did what we always do: we put our thinking caps on, bounced ideas off each other to see what could work from one language to another, and delivered idiomatic, catchy solutions – on time.
